Fun Things to do in Hamilton

Fun Things to do in Hamilton

There is no stopping Hamilton residents from having fun this summer! Despite the pandemic hitting pause on many of our live events and festivals, there is still plenty of social distancing-friendly activities to enjoy. Here are our top 5 fun things to do in Hamilton.

  1. Music in the Garden
Every Sunday throughout August, music lovers can enjoy live jazz and blues music at the Royal Botanical Gardens. There’s no seating and visitors are asked to respect social distancing protocols, but you can wander the gardens listening to some of Hamilton’s most beloved
musicians. Between 1 and 4 pm, the musicians perform three different sets. Come for one or stay for them all!
  2. Visit the Dundurn National Historic Site
The city of Hamilton is bursting with fascinating historical backgrounds and riveting history. One of the best places to learn about it is at the Dundurn National Historic Site. Here you can explore Dundurn Castle, the home of the Premier of United Canadas in 1854. There’s a 200-acre
kitchen garden to roam, the 1870’s Coach House, a military museum, a children’s museum, and more.
  3. Go Camping at HCA
Hamilton is known for its abundance of green space and immersion in nature. The Hamilton Conservation Authority controls camping reservations at the Fifty Point and Valens Lake conservation areas. Whether you prefer RV camping or will be bringing a tent, you won’t regret spending time in the stunning outdoors. Plus, if you’re a member of HCA, you get 10% off per night!
  4. Pet Some Farm Animals
Who doesn’t love cuddling with adorable Billy goats, donkeys, horses, and alpacas? This summer, head out to Triple C Farm in Ancaster for a private tour of the animal sanctuary. Get to know the animals, pet your favourites, and even try your hand at goat yoga. The farm is only
offering private visits due to social distancing protocols, so you’ll have the whole farm to yourself.
  5. Get into Wellness at RBG
We mentioned the RBG’s Music in the Garden event above, but did you know RBG has over 20 other events happening between now and the end of September? You can practice yoga in the garden, test your knowledge at Trivia Night, attend the Not Just a Birding Club, go for a mindfulness walk, and so much more. They also have classes on urban gardening, watercolour painting, and caring for trees and shrubs. Destress, get creative, and be in nature at RBG.
