The Concession Street Revival

Welcome to the Concession Street neighbourhood! Concession Street is situated in a historic south-eastern Hamilton neighbourhood at the infamous “Mountain” edge. The beloved area of Concession Street lies between Upper Wellington Street and Sam Lawrence Park to the west and Gage Street and Mountain Drive Park to the east. It is one of Hamilton’s most prominent and oldest commercial sections on the mountain that has become a beacon to young families and first-time home buyers.

History of Concession Street
Concession Street has a rich and colourful history, beginning with the picturesque Sam Lawrence Park. This 18.6-acre park built in 1960 was named after the ex-mayor (1944-49), honouring his contributions to the local labour movement. It is best known for its panoramic views of the Lower City, the Dundas Valley, and Lake Ontario while offering endless free space for families to enjoy.

The Concession Street Park is continually being updated. The city is planning a revival soon to turn this beautiful park into a community space with better access to local trails, a public art space and improved navigation of the intersections at the Jolly Cut.

Why Move to the Concession Street Area?
The Concession Street area has become increasingly popular with young families and first- time homebuyers as it is surrounded by the residential East Hamilton, Raleigh and Inch Park neighbourhoods. These quiet pockets of family-oriented living are ideal because they are close to the Concession Street amenities, public transit system, local schools, and recreational facilities.

The homes in these neighbourhoods are predominantly single-family homes packed full of character, and they are more affordable than the other areas of Hamilton.
