Things to Do in Hamilton this Spring

Spring is one of the most beautiful times of year in Hamilton. It’s when flowers begin to bloom, the weather warms up, and all of Hamilton’s amazing outdoor attractions open up. This spring, take advantage of all that Hamilton has to offer. Here are some ideas of things to do to keep you entertained, relaxed, and connected.

1. Create Your Own Backyard Oasis

Your backyard can be your own private paradise if you’re willing to put in the work! After a long, hard winter, it’s time to clear out all the debris in your backyard and start planning for summer BBQs ahead. Here are our tips for creating a backyard oasis:

  • Landscape the yard, power wash the patio and repair any broken planks.
  • Create a seating area, perhaps around an outdoor dining table or a firepit.
  • Add ambiance with hanging string lights, outdoor speakers, and potted plants.

2. Start a Garden
Speaking of creating a stunning backyard, why not add a garden to the mix? Gardening is great for relaxing after a day of work. It’s known to help with stress and anxiety while helping us feel closer to nature. If you want to start a flower garden, consider planting perennials. These are flowers that will bloom each year without replanting. If you’re interested in growing your own produce, we recommend doing some research. Some vegetables need lots of direct sunlight, others need more shade. Hamilton has numerous garden centres that would be happy to help you pick which seeds to plant first.

3. Explore Hamilton’s Waterfalls
Some of Hamilton’s biggest outdoor attractions are our waterfalls. You don’t have to go chasing them for long though, because there are plenty across the Bruce Peninsula! Pack up the kids, a picnic lunch, and head out to enjoy a picturesque spring afternoon. Some of our favourite local waterfalls are:

  • Felker’s Falls
  • Devil’s Punch Bowl
  • Albion Falls
  • Webster Falls
  • Borer’s Falls
